Kay Francis Photo Gallery: Blc. Ports of Paradise

Parentage: Blc. Fortune × B. digbyana (Stewart Inc., 1970)
Current nomenclature: Rlc. Ports of Paradise

Which cultivar did Kay have? In one slide, showing a seedpod as well as the label of the pod plant, it is "Blc. Ports of Paradise FCC/AOS". The possible cultivars are thus 'Gleneyrie's Green Giant' (Fort Caroline Orchids, awarded at Atlanta monthly judging, December 8, 1973) or 'Emerald Isle' (Fred A. Stewart, Inc., awarded at Long Beach monthly judging, July 24, 1978). By this time, Kay was actively trading plants with Stewart's (her hybrids, in return for divisions) and would have been well positioned to acquire 'Emerald Isle'. In addition, the geometry of the flower seems to favor that cultivar (sepals much closer to horizontal than in the available images of 'Gleneyrie's Green Giant').
