Kay Francis Photo Gallery: Cattleya aurantiaca (all cultivars)
Current nomenclature: Guarianthe aurantiaca
Kay had a cultivar whose name has not been definitively deciphered. In a couple places it appears to be 'Thurliner', in another place, 'Thurner's'. No other reference to a cultivar with a similar name has been found. Whatever it was, she sent a division to Jerry Kulaja on May 10, 1967. Her slides show that she had several different varieties.
The name "Thurliner" or "Thurner" suggests a connection with Armin Thurnher, a rather surprising possible solution to similar name encountered in connection with Kay's plant of Pot. Inferno (see that gallery page).
