Kay Francis Photo Gallery: Cattleya Bob Betts 'Linda Vista'

Parentage: C. Bow Bells x C. mossiae

Kay tried to obtain various cultivars of this famous hybrid. It is not clear what the origin of her awarded cultivar 'Linda Vista' was (HCC/AOS and HCC/ODC, February 11, 1963, at Hollywood monthly judging; the official AOS award photo has not been found, the image below is Kay's photograph taken about the same time, marred by a stain that we have not attempted to remove). About June, 1957, she obtained back bulbs of a cultivar 'Himalaya' from Stewart's. In January, 1959, she obtained cultivar 'Glacier' from Westenberger's, with two flowers. She sent Jerry Kulaja a four-bulb division of her awarded cultivar 'Linda Vista' on December 7, 1966. Jerry sent her a division of Bob Betts 'Liberty Hill' AM/AOS on May 9, 1967, and cultivar 'Goliath' AM/AOS on June 25, 1968. She also hoped to obtain cultivars 'Mary' and 'Wong' from Gloria Eckles (Landamar Orchids) — both of these originally from Chew Wong, 'Mary' receiving AM/AOS March 25, 1959 at Honolulu monthly judging, and 'Wong' receiving HCC/AOS at an AOS regional meeting in Saint Louis, CA, January 3, 1962, when exhibited by Ilsley Orchids.
