Kay Francis Photo Gallery: Cattleya Horace 'Maxima'
Parentage: C. trianae × C. Woltersiana
Kay obtained C. Horace 'Maximum' from the Westenberger's on March 2, 1960, noting that it had won a Bronze Certificate from OSSC, when exhibited by Arthur Freed (at the monthly meeting in Hollywood, December, 13, 1954). The cultivar name seems to have evolved to its modern form, 'Maxima', after 1963, when it was again exhibited by Arthur Freed as 'Maximum' at Hollywood monthly judging on December 9, 1963, this time receiving HCC/AOS. Kay sent a four-bulb division to Jerry Kulaja in May, 1967. She also gave a division to Gloria Eckles (Landamar Orchids) in trade that same month.
