While this hybrid was created and registered by Kay's friend Chew Wong in Honolulu in 1956, she seems to have obtained it from Gloria Eckles (Landamar Orchids) in trade June 27, 1966, in the form of two cultivars, 'Wahiaioa' and 'Velvet Perfection'.
