This hybrid was originally registered as Sheerwater Passage, but the actual geographical feature after which it was named, Shearwater Passage, a strait among the islands between Vancouver Island and the Canadian mainland, is named after the sea birds called Shearwaters; a correction of the hybrid name is warranted.
