Blc. Memoria Crispin Rosales 'Linda Vista' HCC/ODC award slide, Long Beach monthly judging, September 26, 1966. This was the first ODC award slide we ever found. At the time, ODC made color slides of awarded plants, but today, they are very rare. There are references in Orchid Digest to a library of slides, and it was evidently the practice to prepare duplicates of the award slides and distribute them to judges, exhibitors, etc. The duplicates were labeled in exactly the same way as the "official" copies of the slides, but additional duplicates were probably made from these that were not labeled in the same, distinctive way. More ODC award slides will likely be found among the memorabilia from other orchid notables in the "Orchid Archive" at the Huntington Botanical Center and elsewhere. In some cases, it should be possible to identify the award photos conclusively, even if they are not labeled as such, because some of the award photos were published in Orchid Digest.
