Kay Francis Photo Gallery: Laelia flava 'Charles'

This plant was exhibited by Emerson "Doc" Charles at the Southland Orchid Societies Show in Arcadia, CA, where, under its accepted name at that time, Laelia flava, it received AM/AOS and AM/ODC on March 17, 1960, the earliest known quality award for this form. Kay obtained a division from "Doc" Charles a few weeks later, April 22, 1960, along with a division of his Cattleya velutina. L. flava became one of Kay's favorite plants, if we can judge from the many slides in her collection where it is featured.
