Kay Francis Photo Gallery: Lc. Colorama 'The Clown' — Page 1
Parentage: Cattleya Arctic Snow × Lc. Peggy Huffman
Current nomenclature: Cattleya Colorama
Kay told Frank Fordyce that she obtained the "entire" cultivar 'The Clown' (apparently known at that time simply as 'Clown') from the breeder, Franklin W. Gamble (1906-1969). The earliest known photograph in Kay's slides is from March, 1965, at which time the plant is still small, with two excellent flowers. Kay subsequently shared this plant with other growers, including Frank Fordyce, and in 1979, she sold two divisions to "Sarah" for $300 each.
